Fire Risk Assessments
If you’re a business owner, landlord, or facilities manager, you already know that fire safety is a legal obligation, but a fire risk assessment is about more than just ticking a compliance box. Done properly, it’s one of the most valuable tools you have for understanding your building, protecting the people in it, and giving yourself genuine peace of mind.
At Aries Fire Safety, we carry out thorough, practical fire risk assessments that cut through the jargon and give you clear, actionable guidance. We’ve worked in an enormous variety of buildings across the South East, East Anglia and the UK from schools and care homes to factories, high-rise residential blocks, and our speciality, heritage and historic properties.
What is a Fire Risk Assessment?
A fire risk assessment is a structured evaluation of your building and how it’s used. It identifies potential fire hazards, looks at who could be at risk, and assesses the adequacy of your existing fire safety measures. The result is a written report with a clear prioritised action plan.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is a legal requirement for all non-domestic premises in England and Wales. You must now record your fire risk assessment formally no matter how many employees you have – it used to be more than five.
What Does Our Assessment Cover?
- Identification of fire hazards and ignition sources
- Assessment of fire spread and structural risk
- Review of escape routes, emergency lighting, and signage
- Fire detection and alarm systems
- Firefighting equipment
- Fire safety management and staff training
- A written report with prioritised recommendations
Why Choose Aries Fire Safety?
We’re an independent consultancy, which means our advice is always impartial. We don’t sell fire safety equipment or alarms, so our recommendations are based entirely on what’s right for your building, nothing more, nothing less.
With over 17 years of experience, we’ve developed a reputation for being thorough without being alarmist, and practical without cutting corners. We explain things clearly, we’re easy to talk to, and we’re always happy to answer questions after the assessment is complete.
Who Needs a Fire Risk Assessment?
You need a fire risk assessment if you are responsible for a workplace, a block of flats, a HMO, a care home, a school, a place of worship, a hotel, or any premises to which the public has access. It should be reviewed regularly and whenever significant changes are made to the building or its use.
